# Configuration

### Variables groups

In the configuration tab, variables are grouped by their category as better explained in machine variable guide section, under [column purpose](/things5/device/manage-firmware/machine-variables.md#what-is-every-column-for) paragraph.

### Variable editor 

Depending on the variable configuration, the value input can appear as a slider, dropdown menu or a text field.

### Save configuration

Save changes button will transfer in real time the configuration values to the physical machine
