Device sharing

Share device between different organizations

The sharing procedure is to share one or more devices between different organizations. To achieve that, you won't share a specific device but a group of devices instead.

Device Sharing is one-to-one link and its not possible to share any device group with more than one organization.

The involved entities

For this example we'll call the organization who really own the devices, the share_holder and the organization that the devices will be shared to, that we call the share_receiver

share_receiver asks share_holder to let him to see and manage one or more of their devices.

To do so, the share_receiver will send its personal sharing code to the share_holder in order to start the procedure

Get the sharing code

To get this sharing code, share_receiver must access the Groups menu, under Devices section (ref. 1), and click the Shared with you button (ref. 2) to open a modal window where this code is shown (ref. A). He have to manually copy it or simply click on Copy (ref. 3) send the code to the share_holder.

Inside this modal is also possible to regenerate a brand-new code in order to invalidate the old one, by clicking on the Refresh button (ref. 4)

In the same modal is possible see which organizations, if any, are sharing devices with you (ref. B)

Do the sharing

Once the share_holder receive that sharing code, he must access the Groups menu, located under Devices section (ref. 1), open the service menu relative to machine group he want to share (ref. 2), and click the Share group function (ref. 3)

In this popup enter the sharing code (ref. 1) and select the role (ref. 2) that the other organization will have. (more about Roles)

Icon for shared groups

The groups that are shared with an organisation are marked with a specific icon that shows the name of that organization in both the Group list and the Device list
